The requirements of the professional amateur and student woodturner are demanding. The Union Graduate woodturning lathe was specifically designed to fulfill this requirement. The lathe has a rear turning capacity of up to 18" diameter and a 6" centre height with 30", 42" or 54" between centres making it a truly versatile machine.

All major components are manufactured in cast iron giving a rigid vibration free and quiet operation. A strong accurately machined bed is securely clamped and dowelled to a pedestal. The large diameter spindle, bored to pass 3/4" diameter, is screwed both ends and runs in deep grooved ball bearings.

Four spindle speeds give full versatility whether turning large bowls or small diameters between centres. The 3/4hp motor is protected by the no volt and overload starter with push buttons conveniently placed on the headstock. The cast iron tailstock is a precision fit between the bed shears giving accurate and smooth operation. The quill is bored to pass 5/16" and 7/16" deep hole augers. Standard equipment includes a long and a short hand rest which is fully adjustable for height, being locked by a left hand thread lever for safety and positioned clear of the operator's hand.
